WELCOME to the Sixth Form Transition information page

All year 11 parents and pupils have been sent the links below in a recent parentmail. From the Sixth Form Open Evening link subject videos can be viewed also. These make essential viewing for pupils and should be useful in supporting them in their course selection.

General Guidance for entrance into Warminster School's Sixth Form is that pupils should have at least 5 grade 5+ at GCSE or equivalent. Ideally pupils should have grade 6+ or above in the subjects that pupils wish to study in Sixth Form.

The links below take pupils to options forms  the results from which will be used to create the time table blocks. These forms should be completed  and submitted by 22nd Feb 2021. A few pupils are undecided between IB and A' level pathways. If this is the case I would encourage pupils to submit both forms as we can make final decisions later.

A'Level Cambridge Technical Pathway

Pupils selecting A'level/Cambridge Technical (CTECH) subjects should select 3 courses. A' level courses can be mixed with CTECH courses, mixing them is called a blended prog. If pupils wish to study 4 subjects then they must book an appointment with either myself or MR Sully.

IB Diploma Prog (IBDP) and IB Careers Prog (IBCP)

Warminster school has run the IBDP for many years and around 3 years ago we added IBCP. The main difference being that the IBCP is a smaller and more flexible version of the IB built around a CTECH qualification and therefore more vocationally linked than the IBDP.

More information on the IB can be found on the following pages:

warminsterschool.fireflycloud.net/ib

The option selection forms for IB are different and so pupils wishing IBDP must complete the correct form. Pupils studying IBDP choose 6 subjects and will need to consider carefully which 3 subjects to study at higher level.

Pupils choosing IBCP are advised to choose their CTECH course first and then think about which IB subjects would compliment it. They can choose upto 4 IB subjects to sit alongside their CTECH. Pupils thinking about University should make sure that they have 2 higher level IB subjects in their prog.
