Research your report (1 Lesson typically)

  • First, choose a subject to write a report on. Some ideas could be:
    • The war in Ukraine (and why it started)
    • The origins of Halloween
    • The origins of Fireworks night
    • The rise of Hollywood movies from the start of the 20th century
  • Use the Report Framework to capture information for your report in a new Word document called "report notes". Use Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V to copy and paste notes from various sources on the internet as well as images.

Creating the final report (1 Lesson Typically)

Your teacher will model the various steps. Make notes of these steps in your exercise books.

  • Create a new "Final Report" document:
    • Create a Title Page
    • Use Ctrl-C (copy) and Ctrl-V (paste) to copy over your notes from the "report notes" document.
    • Reword your notes to read as your own, and add images and styling
    • Add and format Headings
    • Create a Contents Page
    • Create Page Headers and Footers
    • Headings we should be using:
      • What am I writing my report about?
      • Why did I choose his subject?
      • How did I gather my research? Which websites/sources did I use?
      • Main report of my findings
      • What could I add to my report if I had time?

Peer Review (Part of your EoUA)

  • Email your report to a classmate (attach the document to your email)
  • cc in your teachers (either Mr Thorne or Mr Mears) with your email.
  • Your classmate then needs to read your report and reply with any feedback they feel is appropriate - Was it correctly laid out? Was it interesting? Did the contents page work properly? Were the pictures suitable?
