With phishing and social engineering attacks on the rise, our awareness, and ability to recognise them is vital; compromised Schools have been without IT systems for a number of days while systems are restored.
Sophos Phish threat is the system we use to simulate email cyber attacks; the reasons for which are:
Strengthen our first line of defense: As employees, we are crucial in protecting our organization from cyber threats.
Educate and empower: Phishing simulations will help us learn to recognize and respond to potential threats in a safe, controlled environment.
Reduce risk: By improving our ability to identify phishing attempts, we can significantly decrease the likelihood of falling victim to real attacks.
Identify vulnerabilities: These exercises will help us pinpoint areas where we may need additional training or support.
Rest assured, these simulations are designed to be educational, not punitive. Our goal is to create a more security-aware culture where we can all contribute to safeguarding our digital assets.
If you recognise an email as a cyber threat, please click on the Sophos shield as indicated (you may need to locate it via the three dots to the right if it's not displayed as below):
If the email is a simulated one, you will receive a congratulatory message for recognising it. If it isn't a simulated one, IT Support will receive a message, alerting us that the email is potentially suspect.
As always: never click on a link or open an attachment unless you are completely sure the email is legitimate.
If you have any questions, or would like to know more, please contact IT Support on ext. 394 or email ithelpdesk@warminsterschool.org.uk
